Item Description
Minimalist Mid-Century Kashan Carpet
4.30 x 3.14 m
The city of Kashan, among the best-known and highly-ranked Persian rug-weaving centers, first rose to prominence in the 16th Century, under the Safavid Dynasty. These workshops earned a reputation for producing many of the most highly sought-after rugs of the Classical period and continued their work into the early 20th Century.
This elegant example bears the signature of a well-known Master Weaver workshop that created some of the most high-end rugs of its generation. Its muted vegetable-dyed colours and simple pattern, in comparison to other examples of its era, lend the work a sense of sophistication and balance. Although this rug dates circa 1940, it has a modern feel: the sign of a truly talented artist.
Retained in very good to excellent condition for everyday use, preserving its original outer borders on all sides.
A timeless example that would make a wonderful addition to a contemporary or classic setting.
