Item Description
Circa 1880. Quality George III style mahogany pedestal desk, the top with insert green embossed and gilded leather, with broad flamed mahogany cross banding with a simple moulded fore-edge, the frieze with a configuration of one long drawer flanked by a pair of shorter ones, all with cast brass swan neck handles with pierced flower shape back plates, the drawers in the top have ‘Chubb patent locks, London’, resting on a pair of pedestals each with a bank of three graduating drawers with similar handles to the top with flame mahogany facings and cock beading, beneath the bottom drawer there is a beading that runs around the entire desk which is polished on all sides making it freestanding, each of the pedestals are supported on four French bracket feet.
