Item Description
Circa 1860. An early Victorian quarter-sawn oak dining Table, the D-shaped table with wonderful figured oak, stylish fore-edge and simple frieze, with the original four leaves, the undercarriage in mahogany with brass brackets and a double winding mechanism, resting on five removable bulbous, turned and fluted finishing with a large brass cup and original brass castors. In addition there is a stylish leaf holder with a high shelved back with a pierced three-quarter gallery supported on carved uprights with a panel back, with a large polished surface, two drawers in the frieze and three panels in the front with gothic tracery, flanked by a pair of pilasters similar to the top, with a door on one side for putting the leaves into the leaf holder, all on an enclosed oak plinth
