C18th giltwood Italian console table
A spectacular 18th Century Silver gilt Italian console table, of great curvaceous form being serpentine front and sides. The simulated Sarrancolin marble decorated top, above an elaborately carved base, with scroll legs, putti masks, acanthus carving and stylised hoof feet. The central carved frieze with scallop shell, foliate carving and opposing C-scrolls, with similarly repeating carving to the sides. United by a scrolling X-frame stretcher, with further C-scrolls and stylised central shell.
Of exceptional design and remarkable condition still retaining its original silver gilt that`s gently worn to reveal the ocre bole underneath. Circa 1760, Neapolitan.
