Item Description
Swedish extending dining table, 19th century, restored. This lovely table is a bit of a showpiece and can seat up to 16 people as there are no legs running along the main length of the table to get in the way of chairs and people's legs. A pair of demi-lunes with 4 extension leaves. It can be constructed into a table to seat less by just using 2 leaves. It is a very simply designed table as often Swedish furniture from the 18th and 19th century is. The leaves simply join together with small sections of the table locking into 2 holes. There are no bolts or clips underneath but those could be added if anyone wanted to do that. A long stretcher and pegs join the table down the centre. A smaller stretcher has been made recently for the shorter version of the table. A soft cream finish, it is delightful.
Perfect for large gatherings of friends and family for special occasions, parties, Christmas.....
The two demi-lune sections placed together are 150cm across (the depth of the table is 156cm). These are only linked together and not held in place by a stretcher. Each leaf is 60cm wide. The smaller version of the table is 270cm long and the full length is 390cm.
