A striking large Dutch marquetry inlaid burr walnut bureau, circa 1780, of elegant bombe form and exceptional quality.
The exterior is richly decorated throughout with finely detailed marquetry, featuring floral motifs, trailing swags, and decorative panels, all set within beautifully figured burr walnut veneer.
The fall-front opens to reveal a superbly fitted interior, complete with an arrangement of small drawers, pigeonholes, and a central cupboard, offering both practicality and visual appeal. A drop well provides additional hidden storage, a desirable and functional feature typical of high-quality pieces from this period. The writing surface is finished with a green baize inset.
Raised on shaped feet, the bureau retains its original character and charm while presenting in showroom condition, having been carefully maintained.
