Item Description
Cylindrical form blown glass table lamp having encased bubbles with a nickel plated stem, designed by Josef Frank (1885-1967) and produced by Svenskt Tenn, Sweden. Circa 1940.
The original bayonet is present and the lamp has been re-wired with 3 core and PAT tested to UK standard.
Overall in very good condition, showing light signs of use with no damage to the glass. A couple of minimal spots on the glass to note. The base shows plenty of signs of use around the pontil, which is what you want you see for an earlier piece.
The 1819 lamp was designed by Josef Frank in 1934 for Svenskt Tenn in the shape of a globe. He originally called it the “Glass Globe”. There were four shapes designed after this period - The globe, the cube, calabash and the cylinder, of which this design is.
