Item Description
Mid 19th century, cushioned, Venetian mirror, circa 1840, with layered frame. The outer, bevelled, frame is decorated with elongated scallop cuts, the inner, bevelled, frame with small scallop cuts and the central panels are exquisitely etched with delicate flowers and leaves. This type of small and detailed decoration is hardly ever found on later mirrors. Each section of the frame is held in place with glass leaves and flowers, secured with little glass-topped screws. There is a little age in the frame and joining pieces but the central, bevelled, glass has minimal age and gives an excellent reflection. This beautiful mirror can be hung portrait, as photographed, or landscape.
