Item Description
G Plan early 1970’s Housemaster teak swivel chair with completely new upholstery.
The original G Plan Housemaster chair was launched in 1970/71. It looks really stunning and stylish from particularly from the back . It’s extremely comfortable and we’ve sold about a dozen in the last 5 or 6 years . Some like this one we’ve completely copied the original upholstery , others like another we have for sale has been modified . We see a few of these but only buy them when the wood and the chrome is in really good condition which not all are . As you can imagine they were expensive when new so they weren’t made in vast numbers and unlike the G Plan “Blofeld” chair it would be extremely difficult and prohibitively costly to reproduce today .
.
This Housemaster has had all new foam cushions to meet current UK standards. It is upholstered in a lovely wool from the Camira Blazer range , colour is a shade of green they call Ambleside
The G Plan Housmaster chair was designed by Keith Wilkins who was a G Plan in-house designer but surprisingly no relation to Victor Wilkins who was their best known designer in the 1960’s and 1970’s. We’ve sold a number of these super comfortable chairs over the years .
Width 90cms , seat height 40cms , back height 84cms . Total depth 98cms
Condition
The chrome is in lovely vintage condition . The teak laminates have been cleaned and oiled and are looking great . As with all vintage furniture you do have to expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely .
We’ve made totally new replica cushions that unlike the originals are to current UK Fire Regulations and used a lovely wool by Camira
