Item Description
John Widdicomb 1950’s walnut gents dressing chest.
Top quality cabinet making from one of the best American makers of the time, but what really stands out is the amazing heavy brass handles which are unlike anything we can find online.
John Widdicomb employed both George Nakashima and the esteemed T.H.Robsjohn Gibbins in the 1950’s, but also used other designers.
Just great quality throughout on this standout piece . Extremely heavy for it’s size as you’d expect.
Widdicomb were known not only for their cabinet making but also for their brass fittings and this one has the best you’re likely to find.
Our online searches found nothing quite like the design and scale of the brass used on this piece.
Condition:
A rather dirty mahogany when we discovered it, it’s been fully cleaned and polished and has come up fantastically. There are no obvious marks or damage, just the minor dings etc that you have to expect on any vintage piece. The brass was also rather dirty, but we’ve given it a light polish so that you can still see some patina.
