Large Rorstrand ceramic vase by Carl Harry Stalhane

Stalhane was design director at the well known Swedish ceramic manufacturers of Rorstrand. Pieces of this size and type would all be unique pieces each given one of the lovely glazes for which the factory was famous at the time like this lovely mottled blue. The shape is also unusual and non standard so this would have been a prestige piece when made particularly as it is a lot larger than most you’ll see.

There is no official definition of large when it comes to ceramic or glass vases, but certainly anything over 30cms must come into this category with ceramic pieces that are hand potted.

Importantly its not a factory second as you’ll see as the mark is good with no incised scratches denoting a second.

40cms high, approx 3.25 kgs

Condition

No chips or cracks. There are a few minor scratches to the glaze which you have to expect on pieces like this if you look very closely.
