We think that if you buy Art based on whether you like it first and don’t worry about who it’s by you can still find great pieces on a budget . We can’t all afford a Picasso or a Monet , or even a limited edition Lowry , but if you don’t worry about the signature there are some bargains to be had . Oswald Schalin 1897 -1975 was a Swedish artist whose standard oil paintings come up for sale quite regularly in Sweden . Still lives and harbour scenes and the like , but here we have something that we think is a little more interesting .

Ladies walking briskly ignoring each other looking rather aloof as they pass in the street . The artist has somehow caught the movement really well and painted with a style of his own that’s missing in the bulk of his paintings that appear online . We bought this lovely small painting without knowing who the artist was and only managed to decipher the signature later .

It’s signed and dated , but the date and part of the signature is hidden by the frame . Oil on board .
