Item Description
Pair of Greaves & Thomas afrormosia armchairs.
Fully restored and re upholstered in a natural weave in a pale turquoise colour, woven with lighter yarns running through.
These lovely chairs usually turn up singly but here we have a pair which came with a matching sofa bed . The Greaves & Thomas catalogue we have describes it as having ” Sculptured Look ” arms. Greaves & Thomas were one of the largest British makers of quality sofa beds and armchairs in the contemporary style in the 1960’s along with Guy Rogers . They had an excellent designer in Walter Cornell who designed all their furniture with great success in the 1950’s and 60’s .
Their upholstered furniture is always very well made and they used solid afrormosia for the show frames in this and other models they made .
70cms wide , seat height 45.5cms , back height 80cms
Condition
Frames have been cleaned and oiled and are in nice condition. They have a few age related marks on the arms and as with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some minor signs of wear.
They have been stripped back to the frame and have new webbing, foam and top fabric to comply with UK domestic fire regulations.
