Item Description
Rarely seen Stouby of Denmark oversized teak armchair with pull out compartments and new cushions.
We haven’t found another and it’s unlike any Stouby piece we’ve seen before. We’ve shown it to specialist dealers who’ve also never seen one before. We know it’s Stouby as it had their label to the underside. We think it dates to the late 1970’s or early 80’s.
The long established well known firm are mainly known for their classic Danish leather and fabric sofas, but not for the quality cabinetmaking skills found in this amazing chair. As you’ll see one arm front pulls out to store bottles whilst the other conceals a magazine rack. Before we found the Stouby label we looked to see if we could find any Danish chairs like it, but again drew a blank. Perhaps it was made as an Exhibition piece and not put into full production or made in very small numbers.
