Item Description
Stylish Mid-1950’s American Walnut cabinet manner of Morris of Glasgow
We don’t know who made this unusual mid 1950’s cabinet, but it’s lovely quality. It’s veneered in American black walnut on beech legs, with an interior that could be sycamore. It could be used as a small cocktail cabinet or a writing table, but was probably designed to be the former. The legs are similar in style to pieces designed by Neil Morris for his family firm, but other makers like Vesper of Nottingham also used similar woods and styles in the early to mid 1950’s for their contemporary furniture designs. If you want something that’s from the 1950’s and only produced in small numbers this could be for you.
Condition
It had a high gloss finish on it when we bought it, and a few marks. We’ve had it fully stripped and cleaned and given it a more natural polished finish which we think suits it better and is easier to keep looking good.
