Unusual Danish tall teak chest c 1960
This is a lovely distinctive design dating to the late 1950’s or very early 1960’s. The light oak legs and base are typical of this period. We also have the matching pair of bedsides and a similar small chest with identical handles. We bought all of them in Denmark about 10 years ago and sold them to a TV production company, they then went to a Props Hire Company who sold them back to us recently ! We’ve made a Google picture search and could only find one other of the tall chests and none of the other pieces. They must have been made by a small quality Danish cabinet maker and sold in small numbers. Later in the 1960’s these small makers gradually retired or were taken over by larger makers.
Would look great in a hall or living room, or of course also a bedroom.
Taller than most chests which only have 5 or 6 drawers.
79.5cms wide, 121.5cms max height, 46cms deep plus handles
Condition
Cleaned and oiled with no obvious marks or bad scratches. As with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely.
