Item Description

ANTIQUE JARDINIERE/PLANT POTS ON DECORATIVE STANDS

A rare set of three graduated planters made from naturally weathered buff terracotta with remnants of naturally worn paint, lichen and moss in places.

Each one is individual and hand modelled with wonderful Faux Bois (imitation wood) details including depictions of bark and knots etc. The pedestal bases are in the form of realistic tree branches and roots and each one supports a straight sided cylindrical planter of tree stump form.

The previous owner purchased these in France which is where they almost certainly originate from.

They are early examples of this type of planter and probably date from the early 20th century and are not later examples which were often made from cement or reconstituted stone.

Overall the pots are in good vintage condition, there are obviously signs of wear throughout which we think add to their charm and aesthetic, including minor chips/cracks etc. but no serious structural issues. They all have differing sized drainage holes, two with lips to lock into their bases, one of these is chipped. The other has a flat base.

Approximate measurements:

Largest - 86 cm high x 31cm wide at the widest part (pot).

Middle - 79cm high x 34cm wide at the base and the pot is 30cm wide pot.

Smallest - 54cm high x 34cm wide at the widest part (pot).
