Item Description
An 18th-century Dutch Delft dish, decorated with a peacock perched on rocks, surrounded by bushes under a cloudy sky, in an elegant palette of blue on a light blue ground. The lip is adorned with a patterned frieze of scrolls and sprays of foliage. Bold brushwork is paired with characterful details in the rendering of the peacock, from the overly round shape of the rocks to the dots on its feathers, creating a dynamic sense of movement.
A bright Delft country dish in refined colour, unrestored and in excellent condition.
- Diameter: 30 cm
- Height: 5 cm
- Some wear to the edge, commensurate with age. Otherwise, very good condition.
