Item Description
'St Ives Harbour' - An original ink drawing on paper by Trevor Bell (1930 - 2017), signed and dated 1956. With energetic, assured lines, Bell reduces the harbour landscape to an expressive arrangement of masts, boats and shoreline.
Created shortly after Bell moved to St Ives in 1955, the drawing belongs to an important formative period in his career, when the Cornish landscape and the artistic community surrounding him became central to the development of his increasingly abstract visual language. Bell went on to become a significant figure within the post-war St Ives school.
Presented glazed, in a hand-stained and waxed bevelled wood frame.
