Jacqueline Henriot-Buchi (French, 20th Century) Emballé - Modernist Still Life An exceptionally striking oil on canvas by French artist Jacqueline Henriot-Buchi, depicting an enigmatic sculptural form wrapped in white fabric and secured with cord. Executed in a beautifully restrained palette of powder blue, chalk white and warm ochre, the composition demonstrates a sophisticated understanding of form, structure and light. The sharply defined folds and geometric arrangement lend the work an almost architectural quality, with subtle surrealist undertones. Dating from the artist's earlier figurative period, before her transition towards abstraction, the painting is monogrammed lower right and bears the artist's handwritten name and address verso. An intriguing and highly decorative work, presented in its dark frame. France, Circa 1975.
