Item Description

Archibald Knox designed this basket for Liberty & Co's Tudric range, Circa 1900. Made from an eye-catching combination of pierced pewter with a turquoise and Kingfisher blue enamel centre, it is marked Pattern No. 0359.

Archibald Knox (1864-1933) was a highly influential designer and artist of the Arts and Crafts movement, known for his distinctive contributions to the Celtic Revival and Art Nouveau styles. Hailing from the Isle of Man, Knox's designs are celebrated for their organic, flowing forms and intricate knotwork, often drawing inspiration from the natural world and Celtic motifs. His work for Liberty & Co. in London, where he spent much of his career, was pivotal in shaping the company's reputation for innovative design during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Knox's legacy continues to captivate collectors and enthusiasts worldwide, and his pieces remain highly sought-after examples of the decorative arts of the era
