Item Description
A Large French Four-Fold Mirrored Dressing/Privacy Screen or Room Divider
A beautifully carved four-fold screen of generous proportions in the Rococo style, crafted from limed oak and beech.
The two central panels feature elegant bevelled oval mirrors in the upper sections, each framed by delicately carved floral bouquets. The two outer screens are adorned with exquisite carved wood motifs featuring a spray of roses tied with ribbon bows, each topped with finely carved garlands. Each panel is tastefully upholstered in simple cream calico fabric and finished with traditional braid trim.
The screen stands on delicately carved legs joined by a decorative frieze, enhancing its elegance. This striking antique piece works beautifully as both a dressing/privacy screen and a room divider.
Two screens measure 55cm in width by 200cm in height. The smaller pair 50cm in width by 181cm in height.
In very good condition for its age with only a few shrinkage cracks to the frame which is sound and solid. The fabric has some foxing spots in several places.
