Item Description

A profusely engraved British snuff box, every one of its surfaces charmingly engraved in a very English Folk Art way.

Around the sides is announced the owner's name, Charles Willis, and his pub, the 'Angel Tap' in Grantham, 1858. Thereafter, top and bottom is engraved with imagery we have encountered on many an occasion before, but perhaps never all in one place. Each persuasive text or motto is illustrated; Peace and Plenty, Industry and the Plough, Success to Trade, Persuasion better than Force........etc., etc.,

Made of brass, or perhaps nickel, plated.

3 1/2 ins x 2 3/8 ins x 1 7/8 ins
