Item Description
A rococo gilt copper snuffbox dating to around 1760 and probably from the Birmingham workshops of either John Bentley or John Gimlet.
The lid stamped with a French theatrical scene, perhaps after a work by Gravelot or Ravenet, the base made of two pairs of panels; front and back with a swan on the water with shell and flowers, the sides with flowers. All produced with considerable depth, burnished and chased to great effect.
