An excellent mezzotint portrait of Vice Admiral of the Blue, Lord Hugh Seymour. Engraved by Samuel William Reynolds after the painting by John Hoppner; published in 1799 by Reynolds from No. 46 Poland Street, London.

Within a good replica of an 18th century print frame.

Vice Admiral Lord Hugh Seymour was a Royal Navy Officer who served in the American War of Independence and the French Revolutionary Wars. He was from one of the wealthiest families in Georgian England being the fifth son of Francis Seymour-Conway, 1st Marquis of Hertford. He gained a reputation as both a courageous, innovative officer and a rake.
