Vice Admiral Lord Hugh Seymour was a Royal Navy Officer who served in the American War of Independence and the French Revolutionary Wars. He was from one of the wealthiest families in Georgian England being the fifth son of Francis Seymour-Conway, 1st Marquis of Hertford. He gained a reputation as both a courageous, innovative officer and a rake.
