Item Description

An early example of an Old Sheffield Plate Argyle with a central cone to fill with boiling water in an effort to keep the gravy hot. As plain in design as the fashion of the time would allow, save for the engraving on one side of a family crest taking for its design a martlet on a chapeau, for the family of Arundel, Arundell,Blage, Blake, Cardiffe, Duperon, Eland, Eyland, Fyske, Heyland, How, Lawson, Mell, Monkton,Overton,..........or Proctor.
