Item Description
Large Mid-Century French decorative oil on canvas painting depicting an English Setter in a pastoral landscape.
The dog is shown standing in profile beside water and distant hills, painted in a soft naturalistic palette with expressive brushwork and atmospheric depth. The composition reflects the enduring influence of traditional sporting art while maintaining a relaxed decorative sensibility characteristic of the mid-20th century.
Unframed. Presented on later stretcher, the canvas show gentle linear impressions consistent with historic rolling and subsequent restoration, commensurate with age and adding to its time worn character without affecting its decorative presentation.
