Item Description
Pair of Pair of Mid-Century Italian silver plated stirrup cups.
Quality cast finial mounts, one mounted with a stag, the other with a hound. Stirrup cups are a traditional hunting accessory, used in British and European horse mounted hunting. Riders would take a ceremonial drink (often sherry or port) while mounted, just before the hunt began- hence the name stirrup cups. Some lovely soft wear to the silver plate of the heads commensurate with age and use. Hounds and stags motifs are both classic motifs in field sports.
