Item Description
A wonderful 19th-century painted pine cricket table. Sourced from a South Yorkshire convent, this has wonderful ecclesiastical provenance.
A sturdy and well-proportioned pieced, this classic piece features a thick three-plank pine top finished in a rich, dark cherry tone that showcases deep grain texture and a warm natural patina. The circular top is raised over a traditional triangular apron frame and supported by three finely turned legs finished in a dark paint.
Constructed for daily use within the convent, these classic three-legged cricket tables are naturally stable on uneven flagstones. Its honest wear and careful preservation over more than a century give it a wonderful sense of history.
A highly collectible piece of English vernacular furniture. Its generous size makes it a versatile choice for a dining nook, side table, or lamp table in both classic and contemporary interiors.
Condition: Excellent, solid antique condition with no rot or woodworm. Shows honest surface wear and light distressing. Slight natural warping to a small section of the top consistent with age, remaining level and functional throughout.
Measurements: Height 75cm x Diameter 79cm.
