Item Description
An Edwardian hall stick stand, the pediment featuring a cast 'COALBROOKDALE' foundry cartouche set over an architectural backplate inset with twin rosette tile friezes and matching baluster galleries, framed by barley-twist uprights with turned brass urn finials holding a brass rail, all raised on a stepped, gadrooned base.
Bearing Coalbrookdale’s catalogue pattern number No 254 - 5 alongside the front foundry cartouche, the stand represents a documented 19th-century Aesthetic Movement model. Its secondary Board of Trade registration number (No 402127) establishes a design registered in late 1902, confirming an authentic early Edwardian casting produced from original Victorian pattern tooling.
Very good antique condition with minor surface wear consistent with age, retaining sharp casting detail, a fine patina and with the removable drip tray absent. Structurally sound, clean and ready for placement.
English, circa 1905.
