Item Description
Antique Kazak rugs, woven in the Southern Caucasus, are among the most highly prized tribal weavings, famed for the diversity of their designs, bold palettes, and the high density of knots in their weaves, lending a crisp clarity to the geometric patterns in their drawing.
This early piece, dating to the first quarter of the 20th Century, is an interesting example of its type, featuring a warm terracotta field, overlayedbold graphic drawing in soft tones of ivory, tan, elephant grey and olive green – framed by a well-proportioned series of creatively drawn borders.
This c. 1920s Kazak carpet is in very good practical condition for everyday use, and its vegetable dyed colours have taken on a charming patina with age.
A handsome example, this piece would add warmth and character to any space.
