18K Gold Pendant By Stigbert, Sweden 1969

A very beautiful vintage 20th Century 18K gold and faceted rock crystal pendant by the internationally well known and respected Swedish jewellery company Stigbert, founded in Stockholm in the 1920s. They are amongst the best known Modernist jewellery designers and creators of the last Century. They came to prominence in the 1950s, and attracted some great designers such as silversmith, designer and sculptor, Sigurd Persson.

This necklace has a feminine look and feel, making it perfect for day wear as well as dressy evening wear. The chain is a slim bar and link design and the pendant a light and open design of two circles connected to a rectangular gold encased rock crystal. In all original and very good condition, this is a versatile piece that will look good with a polo neck sweater, dress or open neck shirt. 

Marking: HE for Heribert Engelbert, Stockholm mark, Swedish three crowns mark, 18K stamp and T8 which is believed to be for the year 1969 and also signed STIGBERT

History:

In the 1920s Heribert Engelbert started his jewelry business in Sweden. In war time 1940s his son, Stig Engelbert, took over the business and by the late 1940s, he established Ateljé Stigbert. During this period, designs were characterized by straight geometric shapes, shiny surfaces and faceted rock crystals. 

In 1962, Stig Engelbert’s sons, Lars and Peter Engelbert, assumed control of the business, and in 2013, the fourth-generation Engelbert, Oscar Engelbert, took over the company.

During the 1960s, Ateljé Stigbert expanded its presence to New York where it became very successful.
