Item Description
A wonderful statement size vintage Starfish design brooch by renowned high end costume jeweller Howard Bendikt. Their shop could be found at 389 Fifth Avenue in New York City.
The Bendikt tenure was sadly only too short, being from 1955 to 1963. However in that time they became highly respected and were credited with influencing others like the well known Hattie Carnegie, the socialite jewellery maker and designer celebrated Kenneth Jay Lane.
This brooch is is made of gold toned metal with a large faceted topaz coloured rhinestone. Of superb quality and colour, the back bears the Benedikt makers mark, pin and bail and it seems to have been hardly used. Looks expensive.
Perfect for a little black dress or for mixing with other pieces to dress it up.
