A compelling late 17th Century Genoese fresco fragment attributed to Domenico Piola (1627–1703) or his workshop.
Depicting a prophet accompanied by an Amorino. Piola was the leading figure of the Genoese Baroque, heading the prolific Casa Piola, whose fresco cycles decorated the grand palazzi and churches of Liguria. Works attributable to the master or his circle remain highly sought after for their rich colour, expressive modelling, and connection to Genoa’s most important artistic dynasty.
