Item Description
A striking oil on board painting by Walter Hyde. The image is of Polperro fishermen unloading their catch into baskets. The colour palette and application of the paint has really captured both the Cornish light in this harbour scene and the frenetic activity of the gulls at the side of the boat. This, combined with the excellent composition, makes for a very engaging painting. It is signed in the lower left corner, as well as to the reverse, along with an additional dedication possibly to the original purchaser of the painting, and dated 1947.
