Item Description
A sleek Gordon Russell Indian Laurel chest of drawers with aluminium handles. Labelled. Circa 1960.
Of excellent quality, the chest is veneered in richly grained Indian laurel wood, with solid teak uprights. The original polished aluminium handles are a defining feature of this early 1960s design, and give the chest a clean, modern profile.
All of the drawers work very smoothly, the sides and backs are made in solid mahogany with dovetail construction.
Another mark of quality is the presence of rear ventilation holes. These openings were incorporated to allow smooth, cushioned drawer movement.
Overall in very good to excellent clean condition, retaining the original finish which has been waxed. There are a few very light surface marks to the top to note and the front uprights have a few light dent marks as shown.
