Robin Day Modular Console Table Sideboard For Habitat

A well proportioned modular console table designed by Robin Day for Habitat, combining a grey finished steel frame with chrome adjustable feet, and a suite of six interchangeable elements. The arrangement includes a suspended cupboard, a single drawer, a clear glass panel, two open storage units with black leatherette bases and integral black circular Perspex dish. The cupboard can only be used on the top section because of the height. The metal frame has cushioned rubber pads for all the elements to rest on.

The wood compartments are veneered in figured walnut over ply, this includes the bases and the interior spaces.

The open compartments provide versatile storage for books, magazines, display items or bar storage, while the distinctive circular dish provides a convenient place for keys, coins and other small everyday objects.

The door sits marginally off flush, though it operates correctly. Please refer to the photographs. The 1/2" thick glass has no damage, just light scratch marks expected from use.

A rare piece, in original and good vintage condition. There are signs of use to the metal work as expected, a slight mark on cupboard door to note. The walnut has been waxed. The back is also finished so it does not have to sit against a wall.
