Item Description
Antique Edwardian small solid oak chest of drawers. Circa 1900.
The chest of drawers is in the Georgian manner. It has three drawers set around a beaded edge to the frame, with the original brass drop handles. Standing on well designed bracket feet with a shaped apron.
Probably made by a local cabinet maker or estate workshop, as some earlier oak elements are incorporated into the construction, which is quite charming. The top and sides are in quarter sawn oak, with the sides being slightly lighter in colour.
The drawer fronts may have originally been an earlier oak table top, as they show indentations and some burn marks. The drawer interiors are made of pine with handmade dovetail construction. These are all clean and work very smoothly.
The chest of drawers has been sympathetically refinished with a shellac based polish and waxed. It still retains a few light authentic marks to highlight its genuine heritage. Presenting beautifully.
