Item Description
An excellent pair of late 19th Century Arts & Crafts brass candelabras. English. Circa 1890.
The candelabras have wonderful original patina and each candelabrum is arranged around a tall, almost botanical form, enclosing the central stem. This rises to a single dished candle cup and socket, giving the whole piece a strong vertical emphasis and the appearance of stylised leaves or folded petals. Four outer candle holders are arranged symmetrically either side of the central stem with sinuous scroll work.
The structure with exposed construction roundels, giving the piece a strong, purposeful Arts and Crafts character. They sit sturdy and well. There is candle wax residue around the sockets and candle cups.
