Description
This finely hand-knotted vintage Tabriz rug originates from one of north-west Persia's most celebrated weaving centres and exemplifies the refined craftsmanship for which the region is renowned. A richly coloured rose-red field is decorated with an elegant all-over arrangement of scrolling floral vines, palmettes and delicately woven birds, framed by a finely detailed midnight navy floral border. The harmonious colour palette, crisp drawing and balanced composition reflect the classical Persian designs long associated with Tabriz workshops. Woven from wool on a cotton foundation and bearing a woven signature cartouche, this rug combines exceptional craftsmanship with enduring decorative appeal. Its elegant proportions and timeless design make it a distinguished example of twentieth-century Persian weaving.

Tabriz, North-West Persia. Based on the all-over floral field design, bird motifs, refined drawing, colour palette, border arrangement and construction visible in the photographs, this rug is best attributed to the Tabriz weaving region. The rug bears a woven signature, although the weaving centre cannot be confirmed solely from the inscription. The regional attribution is based on the overall design, weaving characteristics and construction.

Construction

Condition
Very good vintage condition with light, even age-related wear consistent with careful use. The pile remains well preserved with vibrant colours and crisp detail throughout. The fringes display expected age-related wear and minor losses, while the rug retains an attractive natural patina.
