Item Description
Magnificent antique French oval mirror, circa 1840, with burnished giltwood frame consisting of large curling acanthus leaves and flowers surrounding a narrow, outcurving frame. The original gilding on this mirror is in exceptionally good condition, suggesting that thicker than usual sheets of gold leaf were applied. The original, bevelled, mercury glass has just a little light age but still gives a very good reflection and this mirror will attract attention in any room.
