Item Description
Magnificent, large, antique, cushioned Venetian mirror, circa 1840, in exceptionally good original condition. The narrow frame sections have scallop cut edges, cut glass acanthus leaves decorate each corner and small leaves join the narrow frame strips mid-way along each side. All the pieces are secured with little cut glass topped silver metal screws. The wide frame sections are just simply bevelled, as is the central glass, giving the mirror a superb, clean, uncluttered look. There is very little age in the glass and a great deal of sparkles when it catches the light. This is a rare find and can be hung portrait (as photographed) or landscape and, we believe, it was originally hung landscape and came from an important house in Lyon, France.
