Item Description
Antique Venetian mirror, circa 1900, with layered glass frame and high decorative cartouche. The outer section of the frame is midnight blue glass, enamelled with an intricate, gilt, filigree design and the inner frame section is decorated with lines of ovals cut into the back with bevelled and scallop cut edges along the front. The two frames are held in place at intervals with glass flowers and at the corners secured with square glass pieces with scallop cut sides and a central flower. The magnificent cartouche along the top of this mirror is an eye-catching mixture of cobalt blue glass decorated with a silvered, diagonal, diamond design of crossing lines and four petal flowers topped with a central fanned glass leaf and curling leaves either side. The original, central, bevelled glass is in very good condition and gives an excellent reflection. The photographs do not do this mirror justice as the blue glass really catches the eye and it is a rare find.
