Item Description
1930’s Royal Brierley glass tazza bowl designed by Constance Spry
Constance Spry was one of the most influential 20th Century flower arrangers in the 1930’s and 50’s.
She wrote a number of books as well as designing vases and bowls for The Fulham Pottery and Royal Brierley Glass. Her Fulham Pottery designs have become highly sought after in recent years with rarer models selling for many £1000’s ! In comparison her equally rare designs for Royal Brierley from the 1930’s offer fantastic value today. Her glass designs aren’t as large as the ceramic ones but they’d have been equally expensive when new which is why you’ll not find many around today.
Started out as Stevens and Williams they changed to the Royal Brierley name in about 1930.
Condition
This lovely comport bowl retains much of it’s original sticky label as well as being engraved Brierley by Constance Spry to the underside. A heavy piece of glass with a hand cut pontil mark it must have been blown into a mould to create the shape and the moulded wrythen design.
In great condition with no chips cracks or obvious damage. A good size at 21.5cms diameter and 16cms in height . It weighs in at 1.85kg.
