Item Description
Elliots of Newbury oval floating stool
These lovely stylish stools were probably designed by Norman McCarroll who was EON’s designer for many years. They rarely turn up for sale as they weren’t sold in large numbers.
We think the wood is beech rather than teak.
Newly upholstered in a lovely Camira wool by our in-house upholsterer
EON was the trade name for Elliots of Newbury.
62cms x 41cms max, 45cms high
Condition
The wood is in good vintage condition, it does have a few marks but has been cleaned and oiled. The seat has new foam and upholstery in a pure new wool.
Notes
We discovered that Norman McCarroll was Elliot of Newbury’s in-house designer of many years standing when going through early 1960’s copies of a trade paper called .The Cabinet Maker and Upholsterer at the British Library. He appears to have been little known at the time.
