Teak rocking chair FD120 by Ole Wanscher

A classic piece of Danish design which apparently dates to 1951 in conception which seems early for such a modern looking piece. It’s known as FD120 as it was originally designed for France & Daverkosen. Mr Daverkosen retired in about 1960 and the firm became France & Son until they were taken over in about 1965 by Cado. This one has 2 France & Son labels so will date to 1960-1965 which was when Danish Mid-Century design was most in demand in the UK. Ole Wanscher was one of the best known and influential early proponents of Scandinavian design.

Lovely simple lines to the teak frame which still look modern today. Beautifully made by a top maker.

The cushions are the original sprung ones which are more sought after than later foam ones , and the upholstery looks to be original if a little dusty. Our in-house upholsterer can quote for brand new foam or feather cushions, or just for new zipped covers in the fabric of your choice and colour. If you do decide on completely new cushions then we would advise keeping the originals also.

Condition
The frame cleaned and oiled and looking great. The cushions are the original sprung ones with original upholstery in fair vintage condition. As with all vintage furniture you must expect to see some minor signs of wear if you look very closely
