Item Description
A mid-18th-century faïence plate from southwestern France, possibly Toulouse, decorated in a deep camaïeu of greens with a stemmed tulip at the centre, surrounded by smaller flowers and leaves. The edge is elegantly gadrooned and highlighted by a green line, while the lip is adorned with branching flowers and foliage.
Refined manganese outlines give structure to the painterly greens and articulate the elegant movement of the stems and blooms. The camaïeu of greens recalls the tradition of the Veuve Perrin factory in Marseille, here rendered in a lighter version. A rare plate in excellent condition, with distinctive colour, and refined floral decoration.
- Diameter: 24.5 cm
- Height: 2.5 cm
- The slightest wear to edge, otherwise excellent condition.
