Item Description
A magnificent and complete set of a dozen of heavy-gauge electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) dinner plates with exceptional transportation provenance. Masterfully manufactured in Sheffield, England, by Albert J. Beardshaw & Co (AB & Co), a renowned silversmith officially contracted to supply premium tableware for the Great Central Railway's luxury dining carriages.
Each plate features a crisp, timeless Neoclassical 'Bead and Bobbin' rim designed to catch the ambient light of a vintage dining car. Embodying the robust, industrial weight of genuine hotelware, the undersides are crisply struck with the bold, single-word uppercase tracking inventory stamp 'PEACOCK, used internally by the line to indicate which First Class dining car the plates belonged to.
Exhibiting the beautiful patina and reflective luster unique to authentic vintage travel silver, these 12 plates offer an elegant, heavy-duty option for luxury styling, curated tablescapes, or discerning railwayana collectors. Complete with master catalogue model numbers 1197 1/8 indicating a date between 1895 and 1910.
