Item Description
This is a pair of stupendous and extremely rare antique French chateau wood carvings that dates from the 18th century. Originally from Bordeaux and recently discovered in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue this majestic one of a kind pair of baroque adornments is exquisite in its artistic quality and captivating presence that is truly magnificent. Crafted masterfully as large floral garlands held in place with spiralling ribbons that gives them an elegant movement is only enhanced by the stunning gilding that is so perfectly aged. It is this patina in combination with the abundance of flowers that makes this remarkable treasure simply timeless. Recently the carvings have been mounted to bespoke steel bases or stands so that they could be displayed as free standing ornaments. Each one measures about 160 x 56 x 20 cm or approximately 63 x 22 x 8 inches. They are exactly as I discovered them in lovely antique condition - considering the age - with signs of ageing mainly seen in their fabulous patina. For the full condition please refer to the images!
