Item Description
A refined late-Georgian English side table dating to circa 1820, retaining its original proportions and structure, and later enhanced with a hand-painted geometric top and specialist distressed finish. The piece combines classical Georgian restraint with confident contemporary decorative artistry.
Constructed from solid old-growth timber, the table features a rectangular top above two hand-dovetailed drawers, raised on slender tapering legs. The original drawer configuration and brass pulls firmly anchor the piece in its Georgian origins, while the later decorative finish introduces contrast and visual rhythm without overwhelming the form.
The table has been professionally restored and finished in our workshops using individually hand-mixed specialist paints. The hand-drawn geometric design to the top is carefully calculated for balance and proportion, executed in Mottled Chalky Antique White with Inky Black contrast. The base is finished in a complementary Inky Black. The layered paintwork and gentle edge wear create an authentic patina designed to reflect natural use rather than artificial distress.
This is a versatile and highly decorative piece, suitable for use as a side table, writing desk, or statement accent in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
